Unfortunately, some brokers are only there to take your trading account funds off you! Some brokers employ dirty tricks and a small number may actually be trading against you. As if trading wasn’t difficult enough already!

In some cases, you might be trading in a “sandbox” (i.e. you aren’t actually participating in the real live Forex market!). Your broker may try to trigger your stop losses with price spikes, incorrect price reporting or worse!

One of the most sensible courses of action is to check out some Internet Forums. This can be a time consuming exercise but we have done our best to give honest reviews on our Forum – and many of these Forex broker reviews have lots of additional posts from our members. It is highly advisable to call Forex brokers before you selecting them – if you can’t telephone them if you are interested in opening an account, will it be possible for you to contact them in case of an emergency (such as your trading platform going down) or when you want to withdraw funds?

Another tip is to try not to use brokers with “fixed spreads”: spreads will always fluctuate in the live market as they are dependent on liquidity. In most cases, brokers that offer fixed spreads are placing you in a sandbox – as described above – and may use many of the well-known tricks to take you out of trades.
