HI all, my name is John but have been called JD most of my life!

Have known about forex for a long time but did not realise it was available to individuals until a couple of years ago. Initially I had not real strategy, but read as much as I could and began to see the potential, particularly with the emergence of Spread Betting platforms in the UK - anything that involved no tax is good as far as I am concerned .

I started life as a real time analyst/programmer many years ago, but moved awat from that into the great corporate world. Have done ok but know that one day they will come for me and that'll be that. I cannot face working for others when that day comes, so have started looking more seriously into forex.

Found LMT and then thank goodness Marc Walton. Finally some sensible education and advice, not wrapped up in meaningless sales rubbish. It has been a pleasure reading Marc's daily updates and I am slowly getting the hang of things. I need to get back Live trading, as have been on demo since I found Marc, but this will happen soon enough.

I definately want to trade longer time frames but also have a belief that there must be an EA that works! This comes from my programmer days, but it must be possible and hence I am messing around with variations of the FRWC stuff and Megadroid. My end aim is a mix of EA and manual long term - 1 or 2 trades a week will do me fine.

My aim is not to get rich, just to be able to afford to to live outside the 'system' and work when I want.

Finally it is a huge relief to find a helpful and supportive forum. I have seen so many that seem intent on making novices look like idiots, or anyone suggesting something new as a heretic. So my thanks to everyone here and I look forward to a future paved with pips!!
