Default Closing part trades on MT4

I have just discovered that when you go manually to Close Order, by clicking on the trade in progress in the trade window, you don't have to close it all.

If you have say 2 lots, and you want to close half, you can modify the lot size dialogue box, change 2 lots to 1 and then Close Order, and one lot will be closed but the other will continue to run.

Yeah, it is a known feature. One thing I kinda miss in MT4 is "cancel if other" order, where you place two orders and when one is hit other is automatically cancelled.

    Hi Julian,
The partial close is not working with all brokers.
I know for sure that it is not working with FXCM. But you can bypass this by opening 2-3 trades instead of one and then close them separately.

    Default Hi capsmart...

Yup, I'm with FXCM-UK, and it can't be done in MetaTrader... I do the same as you, i.e. open three orders, usually with 25-50-75 (or100) TP's. Gotta be quick, though, sometimes the price can vary 5 pips, even during the short time it takes to trigger three trades.

I have a "regular" account with them, too (mini, smallest lot .1) and I've been messing around with their version of TradeStation. It allows for OCO, placing trades with SL and TP defined, and the trades are executed much faster than on MT4.

I'm a big fan of Marc's--a BIG fan--so I do charts, etc. on MT4 so I can follow along with him, but if I'm feeling good, willing to accept the .1 lot minimum, I trade using TS. Just looking at how fast it goes is a rush! (doesn't take much, that's how much of an exciting life I lead <lol>

    Bye from Noo Yawk City

    PS: Marc, u da' man!

    Hi
Is there any ea for mt4 to open multiple trades with different take profit targets??
I want open 3 trades with different profit targets. It will be easier to manage if there is any ea.

    Cheers

I do not understand why you want to do this?
Let's say that you want to open 3 trades of 1 lot, first with 20 pips profit, second with 40 pips profit and third with 60 pips profit.
You can open a 3 lot trade and after 20 pips close 1/3 of your position, then after another 20 pips close another 1/3 and finally after another 20 pips (when price will have moved 60 pips in total) to close the last part.
I am using the Forex Tool Shed Trade manager to do this. You can have a look here
