HTML Code:Self destruction - "Its my Nature",
ouch...
how to go against that... rules, I guess. It's ok to self destruct, but not on days when Marc says not to trade.
fun story...let's try not to be the scorpion (or the frog)

What a horrible story, Capsmart, brings a tear to my eye. Probably a children's fairy tale by the brothers Grim, was it?![]()
Mike,
I really do not know.
This was a story I heard long time ago and I just googled "frog, scorpion" to find the text to copy paste it.
It shows the nature of the scorpion and the altruism of the frog that had nothing to win and still accepted to pass the scorpion across the river.
Capsmart,
I have the same issue with duplicate bridge. I can see how a particular hand could possibly fit together for a great result, but the odds are against it. I go ahead anyway. I enjoy the thrill of a great result.
In duplicate the same hand is played by all the different pairs sitting the same direction and then the results are compared with the best result getting 100% and the worst getting 0%. One day a partner and I had a great round, but we finished second so I analyzed the scores. Out of 27 hands, I counted up 8 absolute winning hands while the pair that won that afternoon had only 4 absolute winning hands. Yes, I won big, but along with that winning came big losses. Steady as you go and avoiding big losses seems to be a much better way to go in duplicate bridge...and in trading.

though the thread is a bit old, but I really find it interesting, it makes you really think about a lot of things at the same time. just to share my thoughts, I think the answer to the first the question, its "CONVINCE"! we tend to do things even if we are told not to,because we are not convinced not to do so.
as simple as it looks but it can be really hard to achieve, specially for someone like me who likes to take risks from time to time.
Now, back to how do i convince my self not to? it takes time, and the key is discipline. what you WANT to do is not always what you SHOULD do.
